An Omaha City Day Around a Council Bluffs Poker Trip

Plan a relaxed Omaha visit around the November 17–22, 2026 RunGood series in Council Bluffs, with clear arrival guidance and a Monday-friendly route.

Omaha is in Nebraska; the poker venue is across the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Give the city visit its own non-playing day before or after the tournament, rather than trying to fit it into a registration window or short break.

Arrive through OMA

Omaha’s Eppley Airfield (OMA) is undergoing terminal modernization. At our October 14 source check, the airport directs ride-app and taxi pickups to the ground floor of the South Garage, Section D3. Follow current airport signs and the official map; pickup locations and walking routes can change during construction. Rental-car counters are in the Customer Service Building within the North Garage. Compare a taxi or ride-app quote with the full rental-car cost, including parking, for your arrival and cross-river trips.

Choose an Omaha base with the whole trip in mind

For the city day, compare downtown hotels near the Old Market and The RiverFront. Check the actual walking route, accessibility, parking charges and full stay total. If you will also stay there during the tournament, add the cost and time of each trip to the Council Bluffs venue. Confirm the late-night return plan before choosing the cheaper room. Ask any hotel directly about airport-shuttle hours and reservations; an airport shuttle does not establish service to the casino.

One relaxed city day

Morning: Start with a walk through Gene Leahy Mall and, if the weather and your walking needs allow, continue into Heartland of America Park. These are part of The RiverFront’s connected downtown parks. Leave room to shorten the route in cold or wet weather.

Lunch and early afternoon: Head to the Old Market for a meal, then explore the Passageway and nearby independent shops. Use Visit Omaha’s restaurant directory to choose somewhere that fits your budget and is open on your date; check menus and reservations directly.

Optional indoor stop: On an open day, swap part of the walk or shopping time for The Durham Museum in historic Union Station. Its published fall schedule closes on Mondays. Check the museum calendar, admission and access information before setting the day’s timing.

Early evening: Have dinner in the Old Market or near your hotel, then leave the rest of the evening free for rest and the next day’s travel or tournament preparations.

For the November trip

RunGood lists its Horseshoe Council Bluffs series for November 17–22, 2026, with some satellites earlier. November 16 and 23 are Mondays, so the basic RiverFront/Old Market version is the practical starting point for those buffer days; check each business’s hours. Confirm the selected event’s start, registration requirements and possible later playing days directly with the organizer and venue before booking.

Planning sources checked October 14, 2026. Hotel prices, transport availability and opening hours depend on your dates; confirm them with each provider. FareBandit may earn a commission from eligible third-party travel bookings; official destination and event information comes first.
